Scriptural
I testify that the
tender mercies of the Lord are available to all of us and that the Redeemer of
Israel is eager to bestow such gifts upon us. David Bednar April 2005
But behold, I, Nephi,
will show unto you that the tender
mercies of the Lord are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of
their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance Nephi 1:20
the Lord Jesus Christ.
Truly, the Lord suits his mercies
according to the conditions of the
children of men” (D&C
46:15).
Examples
· Brother Bednar - Redeemer of Israel – His
favorite song before his first conference address – he described it as edifying
and soothing
· Julie’s dad dying – he lasted 13 days without
food and water. Was that for him or for us?
· The family prayer – Tim received guidance
· Pete coming to me when I woke up “this is
awesome and I’m just fine”
· Marketers showing up when I need them

Inspiration
What is the
difference between a blessing and a tender mercy? (personalization?)
If the Lord
is eager to bestow such gifts on us, what’s the roadblock?
· Or is there one?
· Is it our gratitude
· Our love? Our Need? Our openness? Our
willingness to accept? Our blindness?
· Are we looking for them? Would we
know when we receive them?
We should not
underestimate or overlook the power of the Lord’s tender mercies. David Bednar April 2005
· What are the costs of
underestimating? Overlooking?
· Finding the tender mercies (songs
Chosen (1
Nephi 1:20)
· What does it mean to be chosen?
· We decide if we are chosen
· Use Kim Stilson and her family as an
example of being chosen vs not
· Sincere heart and prayer (Julie in
service)
Conclusion: I know that
He lives and that His tender mercies are available to all of us. Each of us can
have eyes to see clearly and ears to hear distinctly the tender mercies of the
Lord as they strengthen and assist us in these latter days. May our hearts
always be filled with gratitude for His abundant and tender mercies.
