Greatest ability of a teacher is his ability to listen
· When
and how do we teach?
· To
what and whom do we listen?
o Role
of the teacher: what does the teacher listen to
o Role
of the student: what does the student listen to?

among yourselves a teacher, and let not all be spokesmen at once; but let one
speak at a time and let all listen unto his sayings, that when all have spoken
that all may be edified of all, and that every man may have an equal privilege.
How do
we all edify all?
How do you learn how to receive the
Spirit? D&C 42:14 And the Spirit shall be given unto you by the
prayer of faith; and if ye receive not the Spirit ye shall not teach.
Importance
of listening to the Spirit
“The Spirit is the most
important single element in this work. With the Spirit magnifying your call,
you can do miracles for the Lord in the mission field. Without the Spirit, you
will never succeed regardless of your talent and ability” (Ezra Taft
Benson, seminar for new mission presidents, 25 June 1986).
· Why do we
rely on own perceived talents?
· What
happens when we over rely on ourselves and our thoughts or skills?
· What
happens when we give up our egos and rely on the spirit?
· How do you
listen to the spirit
What does it mean to listen

At what point in time are we students and

Summary: It may not just be the most important
role of a teacher. (Comcast)
If you want the mind and will of God … , get it, it is just as much your privilege as of any other member of the Church and Kingdom of God. It is your privilege and duty to live so that you know when the word of the Lord is spoken to you and when the mind of the Lord is revealed to you. I say it is your duty to live so as to know and understand all these things (DBY, 163).
Then live according to every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God, through those men whom he has appointed here upon the earth, until we are perfect(DBY, 159).
